When a marriage comes to an end, you need someone you can count on to walk you through the legal process. At Quinde & Associates, our Suwanee divorce lawyers understand that this is quite possibly one of the most emotional and complicated times in your life, and we're here to help.
The Gwinnett County divorce attorneys at Quinde & Associates handle two types of divorces: uncontested and contested divorces. An uncontested divorce is one in which you and your spouse agree on all of the issues. A contested divorce means that you and your spouse disagree on at least one issue.
Some of the issues that may be dealt with in your divorce are child custody, child support, alimony, and division of assets. At Quinde & Associates, you can depend on us not only for our knowledge and expertise, but also for our compassionate guidance.
There are two ways to resolve your contested divorce: trial or settlement. Most divorce cases do ultimately settle with the assistance of experienced and skilled attorneys. While the attorneys at Quinde & Associates are proponents of amicably settling cases if at all possible, we do not shy away from the courtroom and will aggressively fight for you and your rights if necessary.
Mediation can be a useful tool to amicably settle the issues in your divorce case. Mediation allows the parties to still have a voice in the outcome of their case, as opposed to having a judge decide the fate of your child support amount, child custody issues, and division of assets. A mediator is a neutral party who facilitates discussion and negotiation between the parties.
At a mediation session, both parties and their lawyers, as well as the mediator is present. The mediator does not give legal or financial advice to the parties. Instead, the mediator offers creative suggestions on how to best resolve any outstanding issues between you and your spouse.
In the state of Georgia, parties have the option of trying their divorce case before a judge or a jury. In other words, parties may elect to have a bench trial (in front of a judge who acts as the fact-finder) or a jury trial (in front of a group of their peers who act as the fact finders). There are advantages to both. In Georgia, however, it is more common to proceed with a bench trial.
An experienced divorce lawyer will be able to educate you regarding both options and make the best recommendation for your case.
